LOOKSMAXX FALLS, Mass. (The Daily Whatever Press)—Clavicular, the 20-year-old looksmaxxing streamer who built a following teaching boys to break their own facial bones on purpose, has been charged with rape in Massachusetts. The American podcast industry is reportedly stunned to learn he may not have been the ideal ambassador for young masculinity.
Braden Peters, who streams as Clavicular, was charged on September 8 in Orleans District Court on Cape Cod with one count of rape, one count of drugging a person for sexual intercourse, and one count of procuring liquor for someone under 21. The alleged offense date is May 23, 2025. He isn't in custody. His arraignment is set for October 14. The rape charge alone carries up to twenty years, and a conviction on either felony would put him on the sex offender registry.
He denies all of it, and he is presumed innocent. That's the law, and it's a good law, and I will defend it with my whole GenX chest.
The Bulwark broke the story. His spokesman, Mitchell Jackson, responded that Peters hadn't been physically served and that, "as usual The Bulwark is exaggerating." Exaggerating what, exactly? Three counts listed in public court records? The Bulwark says his camp hasn't flagged a single factual error. Somewhere a publicist is billing hourly to call a docket a vibe.
The résumé everybody read and booked anyway
"We had no way of knowing," said the host of a top-ten men's-wellness podcast, standing in front of a studio whiteboard titled KNOWN FACTS ABOUT OUR GUEST. "Honestly, we assumed that was a vision board."
That host is invented. So is the whiteboard. Everything written on it is real, and the knowing was free. It was on the internet, which is where these people live.
In February, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office says Peters instigated a fight between two women at an Airbnb he'd rented in Kissimmee, then posted it to social media. The sheriff's own word for what he did to those women was exploit. He was arrested on battery in March and bonded out.
This spring he pleaded no contest to unlawfully discharging a firearm in public, in connection with the apparent shooting of an alligator. Six months of probation, 20 hours of community service. In April he was hospitalized in Miami after a suspected overdose.
And the day job? "Bone smashing," the practice of striking your own face in the hope of remodeling it into something an algorithm will reward, plus injections, demonstrated live on TikTok for an audience of boys who are mostly still waiting on their final growth spurt.
So: fight club for women, alligator target practice, overdose, and a content vertical built on self-inflicted facial trauma. Cool, cool. Book him.
The respectability tour
And book him they did. In just the past few weeks, Clavicular has done the rounds on a Barstool Sports property, on the podcast Red Scare, and on All In, the show cohosted by David Sacks, Donald Trump's tech adviser. He’s even made at least one pit-stop on Substack (Mike Nellis, I’m looking at you). Merriam-Webster put "looksmaxxing" in the dictionary. The Bulwark described his platform as a voice for GenZ masculinity, and it has never been bigger.
Then, last Friday, he appeared on Howie Mandel's podcast and met Billy Corgan.
Billy Corgan?? The man who gave us "Disarm." Every one of us who wore out Siamese Dream felt a cold wind blow through the flannel section of our souls. Despite all our rage, I guess we’re still just rats in Clavicular’s cage, I guess?
Now do the math. The charges were filed September 8. The Mandel episode was September 18. For ten days, three counts sat in a Cape Cod courthouse while this kid did the grown-up podcast circuit getting treated like a quirky TED talk. Nobody knew about the charges, sure. But every single thing on that whiteboard was public, and they booked him anyway, because a guy who breaks his own face on camera pulls numbers, and numbers are the only morality the podcast economy has ever fucking had.
The female face of a movement about rating faces
The Massachusetts filings don't name the complainant, as state law requires, and I'm not naming anyone either. But multiple outlets note that the timeline lines up with a civil lawsuit filed in Miami by a young influencer who says she was 16 when she met Peters in 2025.
According to that suit, he paid her $1,000 to appear in his videos as the female face of looksmaxxing.
The female face. Of a movement whose entire theology is boys grading faces. A thousand bucks to a 16-year-old to be the mascot for an ideology that ranks her on a scale. I’ve been online since the dial-up screech was a mating call, and I have rarely seen a sentence do that much damage to itself.
The Boston Globe reports the legal filings also allege he injected the teen, on a livestream, with a fat-dissolving compound laced with methamphetamine. His spokesman's defense is procedural: the original civil complaint didn't include sexual assault as a count, and it was amended later.
His other defense was to go on X and repost images and videos of her.
Charged with raping a girl, and your big strategic move is to put the girl back on the timeline for your followers to chew on. Your lawyer must have aged a decade in an afternoon. Delete the posts, let your lawyer talk, and shut the fuck up, Braden.
"Greed Is Evil," says evil man
Then came the statement for the ages. On X, Peters explained what's happening to him: "Happens to all successful young men … Greed is evil."
A new Daily Whatever Press poll of successful young men finds that exactly 0% of them have been charged with rape on Cape Cod, and 100% of them would like Braden to stop including them in his group chat. Invented poll. The math holds anyway.
This is the whole scam in two lines. Any consequence becomes proof of your success. Any accuser becomes a gold digger. Any girl or woman becomes a threat to the brand. It's the same bullshit the manosphere has been selling since before any of these boys were born; they just updated the packaging with jawline filters and a Kick subscription.
The part with no jokes in it
I'm raising two daughters. The boys they grew up alongside are the exact audience this stuff is built for: kids who get fed a man with a hammer and a ring light between their homework and their group chats, and who learn from him that their faces are a problem, that girls are a rating, and that consequences are just haters with lawyers.
A court will decide what happened on Cape Cod in May 2025. That's his right, and it's hers, and it's everybody's.
But nobody needed a court to decide whether a guy who stages fights between women for content, fires a gun at an alligator, and sells boys on breaking their own faces should be handed a microphone as the voice of young men. That was a booking decision. Grown adults made it, again and again, all month long, with the receipts in plain view.
They're going to need a bigger whiteboard.
