Oh holy hell wrench my got, I weep and weep and love and love. If I didn't have a skull that looked like Dresden leftovers I'd shave my head

Awwww Jo—I totally understand.

If it were possible to wear grooves into CDs, this one would have fallen apart in my player before I’d left my teens.

I love her and I have her songs in my head. Nothing compares to you Sinead.💙

I always loved Deadpool’s appreciation for her music.

Good gravy; the world is a poorer place without Sinéad 🥰❤️♾️

Truly. I'm gonna go listen to The Emperor's New Clothes now in her honor.

Excellent--right behind you ❤️

Agreed. 2 shows I saw back in the day that I loved.

Lion and Cobra is brilliant. I make up words to emperor's new clothes and sing (badly) to my dog on occasion. Do that with any earworm in the moment actually. Fine piece of writing.

Thanks for your kind words about my writing, and for sharing about your experiences with Sinead’s music. I might need to try singing her to my dog as well!

As much as I love "Nothing Compares 2 u", I was always disturbed by "Red Football" on her "Universal Mother" album. It is a song about a woman in an abusive relationship and how she has to get out of it. It is a powerful song and not really something they play on the radio.

I remember my sadness when she passed two years ago and I wrote a tribute piece to her then. I’m curious what prompted this heartfelt piece now?

This was a blast from the past! Great read, from a fellow genX:)

“How I relished watching his discomfort. I felt so seen in his unease.”

I think we are soul sisters; found myself nodding my head in agreement from the beginning of your article to the end. Now I'm sad. My Lion and the Cobra CD is actually currently in my car; will definitely pop it in on my drive to work tomorrow.
