THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES (The Daily Whatever Press)—Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would like America’s pediatricians to know. They. Are. In. TROUBLE.
On October 14, 2026, his Department of Health and Human Services put out a press release headlined “HHS Issues Final Demand to Medical Organizations to Answer for Sex-Rejecting Procedures for Minors.”
I read it. Twice.
The most jarring phrase they’re coined is “sex-rejecting procedures.” That’s what this government calls the care the country’s major medical associations have supported for trans kids. The press release includes the term no fewer than 13 times, so you know they really mean it.
“Gender-affirming care” is the actual name for this medical practice. RFK and co had to make up a new one, because the real one sounds too much like what it is: doctors listening to kids.
What a disgrace.
Who got a letter
The letters went out over Kennedy’s signature to six organizations: the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the Endocrine Society, the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Psychological Association.
So, basically, medicine.
Each group gets “10 business days” to send HHS a current statement of its position, any “updates, revisions, or corrections” to its guidance, and “a concrete timeline for any forthcoming changes.”
Look at that last one. He isn’t asking for their evidence. He’s asking for the date they’ll take it back.
The pediatricians are radicals now
The letter to Mark Del Monte, the CEO of the American Academy of Pediatrics, says: “For an organization that rarely wants for words on this subject, the silence is telling—and deeply disappointing.” It warns that “continued silence will speak for itself as a choice to place commitments to radical ideology ahead of evidence-based medicine and the children AAP claims to protect.”
Radical ideology.
These are the people who give our kids their shots and assure us the rash is nothing. When my kid came out, I didn’t need a press release from Washington. I needed doctors who would listen to my kid, slowly and carefully, and then talk to me like an adult. That’s what the guidance these groups wrote actually asks for: evaluations, waiting periods, a lot of questions, and a whole lot of paperwork.
Kennedy calls it ideology. I call it a doctor’s appointment.
The letter to Dr. Asa Radix at the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) goes further. In it, RFK drops the Latin phrase mirabile dictu, “wonderful to relate,” in the middle of the threat, and says “countless children” have been “irreversibly mutilated.”
This is the same Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who said in a 2012 deposition that a worm got into his brain and ate part of it. So why does this dude get to grade anybody else’s science?
(Note: this question is rhetorical. We all know why.)
“Received nothing,” allegedly
The letters say HHS first wrote to these groups on December 30, 2025, and that “to date, the Department has received nothing.” The fucking Daily Wire, which got the story as an exclusive, reports that three of the six groups did acknowledge that December letter.
So the press office and its own friendly news outlet can’t agree on whether anybody wrote back. Cool. Very rigorous.
Here’s what the letters don’t contain: any legal authority. No statute, no regulation, nothing that says what HHS can do to a private medical association for holding the wrong opinion. An unnamed HHS official told the Daily Wire the department would “determine appropriate next steps consistent with its statutory and regulatory authorities.”
Which ones? They don’t say. The threat works better when it’s vague.
And it isn’t empty. In May 2025, HHS published its own report on pediatric gender dysphoria, which critics tore apart as rushed and not peer-reviewed. In June 2026, the Federal Trade Commission sued WPATH. In August 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized a rule ending federal Medicaid and CHIP funding for this care, and a proposed rule would bar hospitals that take Medicare and Medicaid from providing it at all. Twenty-two states have sued over the funding rule. The Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s ban in United States v. Skrmetti, 6–3, in June 2025.
None of those six groups needs the threat spelled out. They’ve seen the receipts.
Saturday Detention
Remember The Breakfast Club? Principal Vernon locks five kids in the library on a Saturday and makes them write an essay about who they think they are. The whole joke of the movie is that the one adult in the room has no idea who those kids are or how to control, discipline, or understand them.
That’s this. Bobby Kennedy has put the pediatricians in detention and assigned them an essay, and the essay is supposed to say they were wrong about the kids.
The same week, U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes ordered Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to answer written questions about his anti-trans comments in the lawsuit over his ban on trans service members. If he dodges, she said, he’ll sit for a deposition. When the Justice Department tried to shield him, citing the demands on his schedule, the judge granted he’s a busy man. But, she added, “he has time to tweet.”
He does. They all do. Time to tweet, time to put Latin in a threat letter, time to invent “sex-rejecting procedures.”
Who This Is Actually About
It’s not about the AAP’s letterhead. It’s about the kids.
It’s about any trans kid whose family has already fought to find a doctor who will see them, and any mom now wondering whether that doctor will still be allowed to. It’s about every parent who did the reading, asked the questions, sat in the waiting room, and trusted the people with the medical degrees, and is now being told by a man with a worm story that they’re part of a radical ideology.
Why the fuck is the health secretary threatening pediatricians? Why the fuck is the government asking doctors for a timeline to abandon their own patients? Why the fuck do they think we won’t notice?
We notice. Moms notice everything.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is using the Department of Health and Human Services to scare doctors out of caring for trans children, and he signed his name to it.
Mirabile dictu, Bobby. We read it.

I am so disgusted with this maladministration. Not only did RFK, Jr. have a brain worm, it sounds like his voice now has the measles. GTFO
Dans, this truly sickens me. I have had several teenage students who were transitioning. One did not get the hormone treatment when he (his pronoun) thought he could, because of a readiness issue — meantime, he bound his breasts as tight as he could all day every day. He was so depressed during that time. His family, and many of the professionals, staff and students at the school were supportive. He changed so much when he went on hormones later that school year. He was hopeful
