Fine Feminist Hour brought together two of my favorite feminist voices on Substack: Zulfina of Letters from a Feminist and ProfessorMeredith of Bitchy History.
What started as a conversation about feminism in 2026 quickly expanded into a discussion about patriarchy, gender studies, reproductive rights, media representation, online misogyny, and why the word feminist still makes some people so uncomfortable. We talked about everything from medical dramas and abortion storylines to the persistence of gender-based violence and the ways anti-feminist movements are repackaging old ideas in new language.
Mostly, though, this was a conversation about refusing to surrender the word feminism—or the fight for a more equitable world. Today’s show was smart, funny, thought-provoking, and exactly the kind of discussion I wish more people were having.
Please go support these brilliant creators—and go buy an amazing t-shirt or two from Meredith’s Teepublic shop. They even come in women’s cut styles!
Thank you Mandy Ohman, Karma, Shirley Figueroa, Maura, Christiane mccafferty, and many others for tuning in and to Karen Marie Shelton and Yanni Hamburger for moderating.
Thanks for listening!
