Today’s episode of The Daily Whatever Show featured writer and former Christian nationalist insider Andra Watkins for a bracing, unflinching conversation about the rise of Christian nationalism and what it means for American women right now. Broadcasting from outside the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Andra drew on her upbringing inside the Moral Majority movement of Jerry Falwell Sr. to decode the real agenda behind Project 2025 and documents from the Heritage Foundation—especially around marriage, education, contraception, and the policing of women’s bodies.
The conversation moved from personal deconstruction and religious trauma to practical resistance: how to recognize coded extremist language, why local organizing matters, and how communities can function as an immune system against authoritarianism.
Clear-eyed but not hopeless, Andra argued that despair is part of the strategy—and that staying informed, connected, and organized is how we survive and rebuild something better on the other side.
